Fruit feast day 27 #IKHLW


I did 5 minutes on my rebounder this morning. I could feel it in my legs my abs and arms. I am going to slowly work my way up to 15 minutes.

I had my mango coconut water smoothie for my first meal. I brought a papaya, Asian pear and two Thai baby bananas to work with me.

The pear was nice and juicy. The bananas tasted like bananas but smaller. The papaya was awesome.

My juice cleanse #IKHLW


I wrote a blog a month after starting my juice cleanse to explain why I started and how I felt in the beginning entitled cleansing.  To briefly recap.

  • I started my juice cleanse on November 5, 2016
  • A week before I started the cleanse I stopped drinking coffee and I ate clean raw vegan 
  • I watched the movie Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead 
  • The purpose for starting the juice cleanse was to improve my digestion 

I started my cleanse on a weekend so if I went through any detox symptoms I wouldn’t have to experience them during a work day. The first couple of days I had a slight headache and low energy. Nothing major. I didn’t exercise during the cleanse because The focus was on resting and repairing my digestion.

I started my juice cleanse drinking green juice. The recipes I used is:

  • 6-8 Kale leaves or spinach 
  • 1 cucumber 
  • 4 stalks of celery 
  • 1 Granny Smith apple
  • 1 lemon 
  • 1 inch of ginger root

Another juice recipe I drank often was beet juice.

  • 1 beet (greens and all)
  • 7 stalks of celery 
  • 1 lemon 

I love beet juice! Beet are good for the blood. They have iron an help cleanse the blood.

I also made a citrus juice that is good for reducing cellulite.

  • 1 grapefruit 
  • 2 oranges 
  • 1 lemon 
  • 1 inch of ginger

I used a juicer not a blender. The juice should be free from pulp and fiber. If you use a blender, you have to strain your juice.

I drank at least 60oz of juice per day. I had a juice for breakfast lunch and dinner. Between juices I drank water and non caffeinated herbal tea. If I was still hungry, I drank more juice.

Towards the end of my juice cleanse I drank mostly celery juice.

  • 1 bunch of celery 
  • 1 lemon 
  • Sometimes I would add a clove of garlic for flavor and garlic has healing properties and is an immunity booster 

The first few days or so, I did have some cravings and I missed chewing. Then I started really enjoying how I felt after drinking a juice, energized and nourished.  

I didn’t go into the cleanse with a set end date, I just decided to listen to my body and give my digestion a break. The more I juiced the more normal it got and I had to consciously ask myself when I was going to stop juicing.

One of the obvious side effects of my juice cleanse was weight loss. I lost 20lbs in the first month and 34 more pounds over the next two months.

I don’t really see it as weight loss, I see it as healing. Not only a physical healing, but a mental, emotional and spiritual healing as well. As I was healing my body by juicing, and releasing old hurts and negative emotions, my body was returning to it’s normal weight.

I did make some mistakes during the juice cleanse.

I didn’t realize that I would stop having bowel movements and needed to either continue colon hydrotherapy do regular enemas or use a herbal laxative to remove toxins and waste from my body. So about half way through the cleanse I made the necessary adjustments and began drinking smooth move tea to help with elimination.

I wish I had of done some walking or yoga during the juice cleanse to improve my circulation and tone. Losing the amount of weight I did has left me with some loose skin, it’s not real bad but some low impact exercise may have prevented it all but together.

I’m glad I did this juice cleanse. I plan on doing it once a year as a New Years system reset. I plan to incorporate juicing into my daily diet.

Fruit feast day 26 #IKHLW


I started the morning with cantaloupe and passion fruit. Later I had my mango coconut water smoothie.

I put together my rebounder and got on it for about five minutes. I could already feel it after being on it for such a short time.

I went to a restaurant today. All the salads on the menu had meat and cheese in them, so I asked the waitress to have the kitchen make me this salad.

Field greens, cucumber, tomato, avocado and olives with lemon juice squeezed on it. This salad was outside the rules of the fruit feast. Although all but the field greens were fruits, only sweet non botanical fruits are allowed on this 31 day fruit feast. 

That being said, the salad was so good!

Fruit feast day 25 #IKHLW


“After eating durian I just sit back and reflect on how great life is.” 

Today I didn’t have my first meal until 1:00pm. I had a mango coconut water smoothie. 

I bought a pack of frozen durian (budget blown) and enjoyed that for my next meal. I love durian and if loving durian is wrong, I don’t want to be right.

I got an Asian pear, but I’m not going to eat it today. I may wait until Monday before I eat it.

Look what I got.

I originally ordered an Urban Rebounder but they are on back order with no date for when they will be back in stock, so I canceled the order and searched online and found this one. 

On Dick’s Sporting goods website it retails for $79.99, on it retails for $37.46. I got it from Walmart. The reviews on both sites were good for this rebounder. I will do a blog post on why I decided to get a rebounder and document my experience with it.

Me and papaya go back like babies and pacifiers.

Fruit feast day 24 #IKHLW


Today I had a lot of errands to run. I made my mango coconut water smoothie and brought the two yali pears with me 

The pears were really good. Juicy and flavorful. I was going about my day and then this happened…

I blew my $10.00 per day budget with one purchase, but I had to get it. I’ve been searching for jackfruit all week so when I saw it, in my cart it went. To get back on my budget, I won’t be able to purchase any fruit for the next two days. That’s fine because I’ve got fruit I need to eat.
I closed the day with my new favorite combination.

Fruit feast day 23 #IKHLW


Mango coconut water smoothie to start the day. For lunch I had cantaloupe and passion fruit which is becoming one of my favorite combinations.

When you’re down to the last spoonful of durian and you just want to cherish the moment.

I ended the day with my boo.

I’ve done a lot of going back and forth about the impact of this fruit feast on my finances, so for the remaining eight days I’m going to limit my spending to $10.00 per day. I’m curious to see how much fruit I will be able to get and if I can still try new fruits and stay within my limit.

The fruit I have on hand is baby bananas, Thai bananas and four plantains none of which are ripe yet. Two cantaloupes, two passion fruit, three and a half containers of blueberries, ten mangoes, five young Thai coconuts and one papaya.

I bought two yali pears from the Asian market today. They were $0.69 each. I’ve never had them. They smell really good!

I’m going to have to go on Thai baby banana plantain island (for someone who doesn’t like bananas, I really went kind of crazy). 

So first I’m going to start with the fruit I already have on hand so it doesn’t go to waste, then see what $10.00 per day will get me.

Fruit feast day 22 #IKHLW


If it’s not broken don’t fix it. I’m sticking with my mango coconut water smoothie in the morning.

For lunch I had dragon fruit. It was the white flesh dragon fruit but I paid for red flesh dragon fruits which is a dollar difference per pound. I prefer the red over the white flesh. That is the only thing I don’t like about dragon fruit you don’t know what you’re going to get until you cut it open.

I just couldn’t let my last encounter with durian be a negative one, so I got some frozen durian that I’ve had before.

It was good! Order was restored.

I took this baby banana to my daughter’s house. My plan was to try it for the first time, but my daughter ate it.

I was starving on my way home from my daughter’s house. I went to Whole Foods looking for jackfruit. I had no luck so I bought 2 papaya. I ended up eating a guava I still had in the fruit bowl.  

Update: I ended up giving my coworkers a pint of blueberries each.
