Just because it’s vegan, doesn’t mean it’s healthy

There is a misconception that vegan is synonymous with healthy. That is not the case (as I write this post eating double stuff Oreos).

Vegan is defined as someone who does not consume or use animal products.

Although some foods that can be categorized as vegan don’t contain animal products, they are highly processed and contain ingredients that aren’t healthy.

A healthy vegan diet consists of whole plant based foods.

So what are other healthy aspects of a vegan lifestyle that go beyond just food.

  • Peace of mind
  • Contributing to improving the environment
  • Supporting local farmers

I’m not saying give up vegan junk food altogether, just like these double stuff Oreos I’m eating, there is no healthy replacement for this guilty pleasure. What I am saying is that if you are planning on adopting a vegan lifestyle understand that highly processed foods aren’t healthy weather they’re vegan or not. But on the bright side there are way worse things than being a junk food vegan.
